Apple Launches iPhone 17 and iPhone Air with Slim Design and Smart Features
Fundacion Rapala – Apple has launched its new flagship smartphones: the iPhone 17 and iPhone Air. The announcement took place on September 9, 2025. iPhone Air replaces the Plus model and now holds the record as the thinnest iPhone ever, measuring just 5.6 mm.
Apple says iPhone Air combines pro-level performance with a slim, elegant build. It targets users who want a powerful phone that’s also incredibly light and thin.
New Rear Design with Horizontal Camera Module
Apple redesigned the back of iPhone Air using a horizontal “Plato” module. This new area houses the rear and front cameras, speakers, and chips. The rest of the back now fits a larger battery.
The device includes a Ceramic Shield 2 panel and titanium frame, improving scratch and drop resistance. Apple claims this design is its most durable yet.
Sharper Display and Higher Brightness
iPhone Air features a 6.5-inch OLED Super Retina XDR display. It supports ProMotion (120Hz) and Always-On Display. The screen delivers up to 3,000 nits of outdoor brightness, making it the brightest iPhone display so far.
To improve readability in sunlight, the display has a seven-layer anti-reflective coating. This helps reduce glare and enhances clarity during daylight use.
Smarter Cameras with AI-Powered Center Stage
The rear camera is a 48MP Fusion sensor that combines wide and telephoto features. It includes sensor-shift OIS for better stability and detail. Users can capture both wide shots and 2× zoom with just one lens.
The 18MP front camera introduces a feature called Center Stage. It uses AI to adjust zoom, rotate the frame, and switch between portrait and landscape automatically. This allows seamless selfies and group photos without manual setup.
Video shooters will enjoy ultra-stabilized video and dual-capture mode. You can record from both front and rear cameras at the same time.
Next-Gen Performance with A19 Pro and New Connectivity Chips
iPhone Air uses the powerful A19 Pro chip with a 3nm architecture. It has a 6-core CPU, 5-core GPU, and a faster Neural Engine for AI tasks. The phone also includes a new C1X modem and N1 wireless chip, which support Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread.
There’s no physical SIM slot. Instead, iPhone Air supports eSIM only. Apple says the phone offers all-day battery life, supported by a smart Adaptive Power Mode to save energy when needed.
iPhone 17 Keeps Classic Design, Adds Key Upgrades
The standard iPhone 17 has a 6.3-inch OLED display. It matches the Air’s refresh rate, brightness, and anti-glare features. However, it keeps the traditional vertical camera layout.
The rear includes a 48MP dual-fusion camera, combining wide and ultra-wide sensors. The 18MP front camera includes the same Center Stage and dual-capture features found in the Air.
It runs on the A19 chip, slightly less powerful than the Pro version. Apple claims a 10-minute charge delivers over 8 hours of video playback.
Colors and Software Experience
The iPhone Air comes in Space Black, Cloud White, Light Gold, and Sky Blue. The iPhone 17 is available in Lavender, Mist Blue, Sage, and Black. Both models run on iOS 26, which adds smarter widgets, AI tools, and system-wide personalization.
Availability and Pricing
Pre-orders for both phones begin on September 12. Apple will start shipping on September 19. iPhone Air starts at $999, while iPhone 17 starts at $799. Other models, including Pro and Pro Max versions, are expected soon.
