Marc Marquez Weighs on Francesco Bagnaia’s Mind Since Day One of MotoGP 2025
Fundacion Rapala – Racing analyst Carlo Pernat believes Marc Marquez has become a mental burden for Francesco Bagnaia in the 2025 MotoGP season. According to Pernat, Pecco has struggled to maintain his composure ever since The Antman joined the Ducati Lenovo team.
Currently, Bagnaia sits third in the 2025 MotoGP standings with 213 points, still in the shadow of his teammate Marquez, who dominates at the top with 381 points.
Intense Pressure
Pernat said Marquez’s arrival has created immense pressure for Bagnaia. That pressure, he explained, has prevented the Italian rider from performing at his best, as his focus is often consumed by thoughts of his teammate.
“Since the very first day they put Marquez in Ducati, Bagnaia lost his sanity,” Pernat told Motosan on Thursday, August 14, 2025.
Focus on Himself
The Italian pundit advised Bagnaia to fully concentrate on his own performance rather than constantly comparing himself to Marquez. He believes the 28-year-old still has the potential to achieve strong results in the remaining races of the season.
“As long as he keeps thinking about Marquez, he will remain the same Bagnaia we’ve seen since the start of the year,” Pernat said. “I feel he should focus on fighting for second place.”
He added, “Or, there will come a race where you don’t think about anything, and you win big.”
Next Stop: Austria
The 2025 MotoGP season continues at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria. The 13th round of the championship, the Austrian GP, will run from August 15 to 17.
